We’ve been hosting drop-in coffee and chat sessions every Tuesday 1pm-3pm, supported by HEY! Volunteering, alongside creative workshops later in the day from 3:30pm-5:30pm with artists such as Handmade Parade and Esther Cawley.

Peel St Park Festival

Commissioned by Absolutely Cultured and supported by National Lottery Heritage Fund, award-winning community arts and parade specialist Community Interest Company Handmade Productions hosted Peel St Park Festival on 15 July 2023.

This one-day free event in Peel Street Park gave residents the chance to celebrate their diverse community and the area’s history, particularly that of the Zoological Gardens that once use to inhabit the site, through a parade and other activities.

In the lead up, Absolutely Cultured and Handmade Productions delivered creative workshops on the theme for local community groups and schools.

HU3 Gallery

In May 2022, the residents from our creative workshops worked with artist Andy Pea to recreate Spring Bank’s zoological history and displayed these works on lamp posts around the area, creating the HU3 Gallery exhibition.

Peel Street Park Regeneration

The Peel Street Park regeneration project consists of physical works to the park including, new play equipment and football nets.

We have worked with Hull City Council’s neighbourhood team to add brand new play equipment which has been painted with unique artwork by local artist Sergej Komkov.

Absolutely Cultured also commissioned a “Peel Street Park” mural by Lydia Caprani, brightening up the area using the “True Colours of Spring Bank” palette, developed by ArtLink and local residents.

Peel Street Park Helping Hands Trail

As part of #WeMadeThisHull‘s Helping Hands trail across the city between March and April 2021, we encouraged folks to hang their creations around Peel Street Park. Local residents displayed these at Peel Street Park, Spring Bank, by adding them to the fence around the greenspace.
