Window Design, The Warren Youth Project

As part of their creative expression activities, The Warren Youth Project brought you two Window Designs for Creative Hull in 2021 inspired by young people’s hopes for the future of the city post-Covid-19, exploring open green spaces, friendship and why city centre based services are so important to them.

Young people were adversely affected by lockdown, not being able to leave the city, see loved ones or gain access to vital mental health services.

City-based mental health issues are on the rise and with the drop in levels of activity for a lot of people during the pandemic, residents craved the tranquillity of outdoor green spaces.

Many of the young people who access the services of The Warren Youth Project are on low income. This space, sat opposite Queens Gardens, is the only reason many of them will travel into the city centre, usually at their own cost. Feeling supported and empowered and seeing the familiar faces of friends for them is a mood-lifter, particularly given the past year.
